Zed/heaD is a thrilling story set between the unpublished novels Living Legacy and Old Demons.
Four soldiers of the Silver Crown Service are tasked with escorting Jared Leonhart, a captive from Great Agarthia. Their mission takes a dangerous turn when the Fourth faction seizes control of the government. They attack a festival, releasing the Zed-heaD plague. Their helicopter crashes into the forest, causing survivors to form an uneasy alliance. Kristin DuCharme, a newcomer to the Silver Crown Service, finds herself caught between her commanding officer Thomas Sterling and liaison officer Joey Masterman. Jared Leonhart may be their only hope or threat. As they battle the Zed-heaD menace, trust is fragile, and every decision carries consequences.
The game is planned to be a small minigame. It will be a first-person shooter with a similar feel to the classic zombies’ round-based experience.
Instead of the whole otherworldly style, the designer has gone for a more grounded approach since your actions will be monitored by two individuals, Carrie and Clarke.
Wall-buys have been changed to terminals where players can see the items and interact with them to pick them up.
Power-ups must be delivered to either of the observers to trigger them.
Different characters will have separate side objectives they can complete to unlock extras such as camos and story elements.
More will be revealed soon.
After watching a music video from Two Down, J.I. noticed something about Black Ops 2 that got the gears turning in his head. After some discussion within the group of The Xiled Ones, a challenge was formed.
The ZedX Challenge would set the Xiled Ones apart from other Zombie YouTubers by creating their own version of Zombies, allowing them to offer critiques on the entire Zombie experience when others had only played XO created their own. Quickly, things changed, and Zed/heaD became its own thing.
Through the process, J.I. noticed a few points that carried over into his old stories, so he decided to integrate ideas from everything he had created over the past decade. Zed/heaD is how J.I. would have designed Zombies while attempting to recapture the old, edgy feel of games from the late 1990s to the late 2000s.
He was inspired by things such as the Half Life 2 beta, Doom, Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, I am Legend, Escape from New York and the whole Underground/Street titles of the late 2000s.
We’re aiming to evoke the nostalgic essence of gaming eras past, drawing inspiration from the raw and visceral aesthetics of the late 90s to early 2010s. Picture a return to the classic style reminiscent of the PS2 era and the Source Engine’s heyday, where gaming was marked by its gritty realism and edgy atmosphere.
In terms of visuals, we’re embracing washed-out tones, lending a sense of grit and urban decay to the game world. Think desaturated colours, dilapidated environments, and a general feeling of dystopian gloom. This sets the stage for an experience that’s as immersive as it is immersive.
The gameplay itself will be characterised by fast-paced action, mirroring the adrenaline-fueled rush of classic titles from the period. Players can expect intense firefights, lightning-quick reflexes, and heart-pounding moments of high-stakes combat.
And of course, no homage to the late 90s to early 2010s would be complete without a soundtrack to match. Picture pounding metal riffs and haunting gothic melodies setting the tone for every moment of gameplay, immersing players in a world where danger lurks around every corner.
Overall, our goal is to transport players back to a time when gaming was bold, unapologetic, and undeniably cool. With its blend of retro aesthetics and modern sensibilities, our game promises an experience that’s both timeless and thrilling.
